Sasha Baron’s Oscar Sketch Cut!

I came across an article that talked about Sasha Baron Cohen’s Oscar sketch. They yanked it because they didn’t want to upset James Cameron. It was spoofing him and his crappy fern gully meets dances with wolves crap-fest called Avatar. I don’t understand how that movie was EVEN nominated for an Oscar. It is mind blowing. The trailer alone made me burst out laughing at the god awful dialogue. Are people allowed to still say, “We aren’t in Kansas anymore!” in movies. That line extremely tired. I could go on and on about the ass hurt that is Avatar but I am actually quite saddened by the news of this sketch cut.
My favorite thing about the Oscars (other than the stars, the clothes, the memorable acceptance speeches, wacky interviews by star struck reporters) are the sketches. Billy Crystal always had awesome opening sketches, Jon Stewart was hilarious and wonderfully awkward, and I had high hopes for Baldwin and Martin. Alec and Steve. What did the academy think Cohen would do when they booked him? He made Borat and Bruno for god sakes! Academy, did you think he’d come on stage, tell a few nice jokes and leave?
I will still watch the Oscars tomorrow night but I will imagine the greatness of seeing James Cameron’s face as Cohen spoofs Avatar. Oh and Ben Stiller was supposed to be in the sketch too..to quote Barney Stinson from How I met your mother..It would have been..”wait for it..Legendary!!”
